Honors Pre-Calculus

Course Description

This class focuses on Pre-calculus concepts, but adds on a few more advanced concepts. The course will go over polynomial functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities and equations, systems of equations and matrices, conic sections and parametrics, vectors, polar coordinates and complex numbers, sequences and series, and limits and derivatives. The course prepares students for AP Calculus BC the following year.

Prerequisites

Honors Algebra II is the prerequisite for Honors Pre-Calculus.

About the Instructor

Mr. Jerry Liu pursued his undergraduate degree in mathematics education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and later earned a Master's degree in mathematics education from the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California (USC).

Since 2011, he has been a member of the teaching team at Prestige STEM Academy, becoming a cornerstone of our team over the past 12 years. Currently, Mr. Liu serves as the Mathematics Department Head for all elementary school students at our school. He also teaches more advanced mathematics courses to middle and high school students, including AP Calculus AB and BC. 

Mr. Liu is passionate about teaching and dedicated to mathematics education. He strives to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students, emphasizing not only the imparting of mathematical knowledge but also encouraging students to explore and discover the beauty of mathematics.
