AP World History

Course Description

This course covers important events, people, developments and processes from 1200 AD to the present. Students will apply the same skills, practices, and methods used by historians to analyze primary and secondary historical sources, construct historical arguments, make historical connections, and use comparison, causation, and reasoning about continuity and change over time.

This course offers six themes that students will explore throughout the course in order to make connections across historical developments across time and place: people and environment, cultural development and exchange, governance, economic systems, social interaction and organization, and technology and innovation.  AP World History: Modern is designed to provide students with the equivalent level of a college or university historical survey course in order to better understand modern world history. This course is accredited with the California A-G course approval, aligning with the curriculum standards of the University of California system, and is widely recognized by the majority of American universities.
